ViratKohli

विराट कोहली

The two planets built for effortless charm and authority are the weakest things in his chart. He trained for the rest.

5 NOV 1988 · NEW DELHI

TL;DR

Two "easy" planets. Zero easy years.

In Vedic astrology, the Sun runs authority and the Venus runs charm — the two planets that are supposed to make a life feel effortless. In Virat Kohli's kundli, both are debilitated, the only two placements in the whole chart that are actually weak.
Nothing else in the chart is on home ground either — every other graha here is a neutral guest, not a native. There is no planet in this birth chart handing him anything for free.

And here's the part that lines up with the public record: one mahadasha has run his entire senior career. Rahu, since November 2009. The Test debut, every captaincy call, the wedding, his daughter's birth, both retirements — all inside the same eighteen-year stretch.

The loss, and the innings after

Unbeaten the day after his father's funeral
  • On 18 December 2006, his father Prem Kohli died suddenly. Kohli, 18, left the Ranji Trophy ground to attend the cremation and was back at the crease the next morning, batting to save the follow-on.
  • His India ODI debut followed on 18 August 2008.
🔭 The funeral and the innings fall in Mars MD / Mercury AD (May 2006–May 2007). The Sun — the general significator used for one's father elsewhere on these pages — is debilitated in this chart. A resonant echo, not a cause.

His own era, self-started

Test cap 20 June 2011
  • Test debut lands in Rahu MD / Rahu AD — his own sub-period inside its own mahadasha, about as clean a "self-starting expansion" as a dasha ladder offers.
  • RCB's IPL captaincy in 2013 (Rahu/Jupiter), then full ODI and T20I captaincy confirmed in January 2017 (Rahu/Saturn) — Saturn being the structure-and-discipline planet, running right as he took on the full weight of the job.
🔭 Rahu/Rahu → Rahu/Saturn, 2011–2017. Rahu is expansion and hunger; Saturn is the planet that hands you the whole responsibility at once.

The personal chapter

11 Dec 2017 married Anushka Sharma
  • He married actor Anushka Sharma on 11 December 2017, in the same window as this Prime Minister's Office courtesy call (Anushka accompanied him on that visit, per public record, though this particular frame shows Kohli alone with the PM).
  • India's Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, the country's highest sporting honour, followed in 2018 — both inside Rahu/Mercury.
  • Their daughter Vamika was born on 11 January 2021, in Rahu/Ketu — the sub-period of release and letting go, arriving instead as a birth.

The 1021-day silence

No international century for nearly three years
  • On 15 January 2022 he stepped down as Test captain, after already giving up white-ball captaincy — the tail end of a form slump that had, by then, run for over 1,000 days without an international hundred.
🔭 Right as Rahu/Venus opens. Venus is his other debilitated planet — a rough entry into the very sub-period that would go on to fix the drought.

2022–2025 · RAHU/VENUS → RAHU/SUN → RAHU/MOON

The comeback, then two exits from the top

765 runs Player of the Tournament, 2023 ODI World Cup
  • An Asia Cup century in September 2022 snapped the drought — still Rahu/Venus, the renewal sub-period finally paying out.
  • The 2023 ODI World Cup on home soil followed, 765 runs and Player of the Tournament, still Venus.
  • India won the T20 World Cup on 29 June 2024 and he retired from T20Is immediately after — Rahu/Sun, the sub-period of peak recognition, winning and stepping back in the same breath.
  • He retired from Test cricket in May 2025, right at the Rahu/Sun → Rahu/Moon boundary — Moon being the emotional-turning-point planet, closing the format he has called his most personal.
🔭 Now in Rahu/Moon, through October 2026, still an active ODI player — with Rahu/Mars next, right as the wider Rahu mahadasha itself closes out in November 2027.

A caution we'd rather give you than hide: no verified birth time exists for him, and his Moon's nakshatra crosses a boundary at roughly 3:05am on his birth date — a birth before that minute would start the entire dasha sequence above with Venus, not Sun. No source claims a pre-dawn birth, and the unrated 10:28am time AstroSage quotes sits comfortably on the Sun side, so this page runs the Sun-first sequence as primary. Lesson 06 below explains exactly why that boundary exists and what it would change.

The tea ☕

Everything you're actually here for

Three things people actually search for. What the chart says about the pattern — not the gossip.

📉 The captaincy exit and the 1021-day drought
What's public

Between January 2020 and September 2022 he went without an international century — an unusually long drought for a player of his record. He gave up white-ball captaincy in 2021 and Test captaincy in January 2022, both amid heavy public and media scrutiny.

What the chart hints

The drought's end and the captaincy exit both sit right at the seam between Rahu/Ketu (release) and Rahu/Venus (his other debilitated planet) opening.

Astrologers would read that as a genuinely hard sub-period to walk into — and also the one that, months later, produced the century that ended it. A pattern, not a prediction.

😤 The send-offs and the sledging
What's public

His on-field aggression — send-offs, verbal exchanges with opponents, animated wicket celebrations — has been a consistent, widely covered part of his public image since early in his career.

What the chart hints

A debilitated Sun is a weak spot for the planet of ego and self-assertion — one traditional reading is that it pushes a person to assert authority more loudly, not less, precisely because it doesn't come easily.

Loud on the outside, working hard underneath. That's the placement in one line.

💍 Married under a magnifying glass
What's public

It's public record that sections of fans and commentators blamed Anushka Sharma for dips in his on-field form over the years — a pattern both he and she have publicly pushed back on and called unfair.

What the chart hints

Venus runs charm, partnership and how the public receives a relationship — and Venus is his other debilitated planet.

A weak Venus is traditionally read as affection that swings hard and unfairly in both directions, aimed at whoever's closest to the spotlight. It doesn't excuse the trolling; it's just the same placement showing up again.

Being straight with you: nobody outside someone's life knows why things really happen. None of the above is a claim about what happened or why — it's a traditional reading of a publicly known birth chart, for entertainment. Facts are public record; the astrology is interpretation.
Certified comeback arcs

Two arcs that had no business ending well

🏏 → 😢 → 🏏  The innings after the funeral

  • His father died suddenly on 18 December 2006, mid-Ranji Trophy match.
  • An 18-year-old Kohli attended the cremation that morning and was back at the ground the next day, batting through to help Delhi avoid the follow-on.
  • It's the single most-cited moment in how his character gets described publicly, twenty years on.

🔭 The chart bit: deep in Mars mahadasha — the planet of grit, discipline and showing up for a fight. It ran his entire teenage rise, this innings included.

📉 → 🏆  1021 days, then the loudest possible answer

  • Three years without an international hundred, two captaincies given up in the same stretch, and a settled public narrative that his best cricket was behind him.
  • An Asia Cup century in September 2022 broke the drought. A home ODI World Cup followed in 2023 — 765 runs, Player of the Tournament.
  • A T20 World Cup title in June 2024, then a Test farewell in May 2025 — both walked away from at the top, on his own terms.

🔭 The chart bit: the whole arc sits inside Rahu/Venus into Rahu/Sun — his weakest planet's sub-period turning into the sub-period of peak recognition.

What the sky wrote

Four planets. Four receipts.

Each card below pairs the placement with a real photo of Kohli himself, drawn from a moment that fits that placement's story — never a picture of the planet itself.

SUN · LIBRA
DEBILITATED

The authority planet, running on empty

  • The Sun governs ego, authority and being the one in charge. His sits in Libra — the sign where the Sun is traditionally at its weakest.
  • And yet he captained India across all three formats for years, and became the most visibly intense on-field leader of his generation.
  • The loud, combative public persona reads as the compensation for the placement, not proof against it.
🔭 Sun in Libra — debilitated. One of only two weak placements in the whole chart, and it's the authority planet.

The charm planet, also running on empty

  • Venus governs charm, romance and public affection. His sits in Virgo, Venus's classic debilitation.
  • It's also the sub-period — Rahu/Venus, 2021–2024 — that opened with a captaincy resignation and a career-low, then closed with a World Cup and a comeback century.
  • Two of the nine planets in this chart are debilitated. Both of them are the ones that are supposed to make things easy.
🔭 Venus in Virgo — debilitated. The second of the chart's two weak spots, and the one whose sub-period is running the comeback story right now.

MOON · UTTARA PHALGUNI
PADA 2
Moon · Uttara Phalguni · nakshatra (pada 2)

The one placement that decides everything else

  • The Moon's exact nakshatra at birth is what sets which planet's mahadasha runs first — for him, Uttara Phalguni, ruled by the Sun.
  • It's a genuinely close call: the nakshatra before it, Purva Phalguni, is ruled by Venus, and the boundary between the two falls at roughly 3:05am on his birth date.
  • Every dasha date on this page depends on that single boundary holding — which is exactly why it's disclosed rather than smoothed over.
🔭 Moon in Virgo, Uttara Phalguni nakshatra (pada 2). Neutral placement by sign; decisive by nakshatra.

RAHU · AQUARIUS
MAHADASHA
Rahu · in Aquarius · current mahadasha

The planet that has run his whole senior life

  • Rahu governs ambition, expansion and appetite for more. It's been in charge of his mahadasha since November 2009 and stays in charge until November 2027.
  • Test debut, every captaincy, the wedding, his daughter, both comebacks, both retirements — every one of them falls inside this single eighteen-year stretch.
  • Rahu doesn't do small. Whatever it touches, it touches at scale — fitting, for a career built on relentless, visible, public intensity.

The kundli people look for next

A big share of the search traffic around this page is really about two other people: his wife Anushka Sharma, and their daughter Vamika. That's a natural compatibility question — Vedic astrology has a whole 36-point guna Milan system built exactly for matching two birth charts like theirs.

We haven't built the Anushka Sharma kundli page yet — when we do, it'll sit at its own page and this section will link straight to it. For now: her data isn't public with the same confidence his is, so we're not guessing at a compatibility score with half a chart.

Astrology, but make it make sense

Zero background needed. Read this once and you can decode the birth chart above yourself — no astrologer required.

LESSON 01

What a birth chart even is

A kundli, or janam kundli, is a photo of the sky from the exact spot and second someone was born. Where each planet was sitting, frozen.

Vedic astrology treats that snapshot as the raw material a person was handed — not their fate, their starting kit.

His: his birthday is 5 November 1988, in New Delhi. That sky had the Sun and Mercury in Libra, the Moon and Venus in Virgo, Mars in Pisces. Those placements do most of the talking on this page.
LESSON 02

The planets, and what each one does

Nine of them, or navagraha. Think of them as nine departments, each running one part of a life.

PlanetRunsWhere his is
☉ Sunego, authority, the selfLibra ↓ weakest
☾ Mooninstinct, mind, moodVirgo
♂ Marsdrive, aggression, the bodyPisces
☿ Mercuryspeech, cleverness, strategyLibra
♃ Jupitergrowth, luck, judgementTaurus (retrograde)
♀ Venuscharm, love, public affectionVirgo ↓ weakest
♄ Saturnpatience, grind, delaysSagittarius
☊ Rahuambition, obsession, expansionAquarius
☋ Ketuletting go, detachmentLeo
LESSON 03

Why "which sign" actually matters

Every planet has signs where it's comfortable and signs where it struggles. Same planet, different room, different output.

  • Home ground (own sign) — the planet owns the place. Full strength, no permission needed.
  • Debilitated (weakest spot) — it's working with the handbrake on.
  • Everywhere else (neutral) — a guest. Functional, not special.
His scorecard is unusual: two planets debilitated (Sun, Venus), and every single other planet — Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu — sitting neutral. Zero planets on home ground. Most charts have at least one; his has none. That's not a weak chart, it's a chart with no free placements at all.
LESSON 04

Dashas — why timing is the whole game

This is the bit most people have never heard of, and it's the most useful.

Planets don't all act at once. They take turns running a life, for years at a stretch, in a fixed order the Moon's position sets at birth. Vedic astrology calls a planet's turn a dasha, and the full sequence for a lifetime is called the Vimshottari dasha.

His turns, computed:
Sun 1988–92 · Moon 1992–2002 · Mars 2002–09 · Rahu 2009–2027 · Jupiter 2027–43 · Saturn 2043–62 · Mercury 2062–79

Look at that fourth one. Rahu has been running his life since he was 21, and doesn't hand over until he's 39.
LESSON 05

Sub-periods — the chapters inside the mahadasha

An eighteen-year turn is too blunt to be useful on its own, so it splits into shorter stretches, each run by one of the other planets. That's the level where the year-to-year story actually lives.

Inside his Rahu mahadasha:
Rahu/Rahu (2009–12) → Test debut
Rahu/Jupiter (2012–14) → RCB captaincy
Rahu/Saturn (2014–17) → full India captaincy
Rahu/Mercury (2017–20) → marriage, Khel Ratna
Rahu/Ketu (2020–21) → daughter born
Rahu/Venus (2021–24) → captaincy exit, then the comeback
Rahu/Sun (2024–25) → T20 World Cup win, retires from T20Is
Rahu/Moon (2025–26, current) → Test retirement, active in ODIs
LESSON 06

The one boundary that could change all of the above

Dasha order isn't set by the date alone — it's set by exactly which sliver of a lunar nakshatra the Moon sat in at the moment of birth. Twenty-seven nakshatras carve up the sky, each ruled by one planet, and whichever one the Moon occupies decides which planet's mahadasha runs first.

His Moon sits in Uttara Phalguni, ruled by the Sun — which is why his ladder above starts with a Sun mahadasha. But the nakshatra just before it, Purva Phalguni, is ruled by Venus, and the two are separated by a boundary that falls at roughly 3:05am on 5 November 1988.

A birth before that minute would put the Moon in Purva Phalguni instead — and the entire sequence in Lesson 05 would start with Venus, not Sun, shifting every date after it. Nobody has published a source claiming a pre-dawn birth for him, and the one unrated time in circulation (10:28am, via AstroSage) sits well on the Sun side. So this page runs the Sun-first sequence as primary — and tells you exactly where the seam is, rather than pretending it doesn't exist.
LESSON 07

What we genuinely can't tell you

Here's where most celebrity astrology sites quietly cheat, and we won't.

A chart has two halves. Which sign each planet is in — that only needs the date, so everything above is solid. And the houses, which need the exact minute of birth, because the rising sign changes roughly every two hours.

Nobody has published a verified birth time for him. The 10:28am figure that circulates is explicitly unrated by the astrology database quoting it, with no source trail behind it.

So on this page you will not see us say "his career house" or "his 7th house of marriage" — that would be a guess dressed as a fact. Other sites will. Ask them which birth time they used.
LESSON 08

So — is Virat Kohli manglik?

One of the most-searched questions about him, and the honest answer is uncomfortable.

"Manglik" depends on which house Mars occupies — a small set of specific spots tied to marriage. Houses need the birth time. Without one, this genuinely cannot be answered.

What we can say: his Mars sits in Pisces, a neutral placement by sign. Whether that lands in a manglik house depends entirely on an hour nobody has confirmed. Any site giving you a confident yes or no for him has picked a birth time and isn't telling you which.

Quick answers

What people ask about his kundli

FAQ 01

What is Virat Kohli's birth time?

No verified birth time exists. A time of 10:28am circulates on astrology sites, sourced to AstroSage, but it's explicitly unrated there with no documented trail. This page publishes only what holds without a confirmed birth time — his zodiac signs, nakshatra and dasha eras — and never houses, lagna or a manglik verdict.

FAQ 02

What is Virat Kohli's zodiac sign and nakshatra?

By Vedic reckoning, his Moon sign — also called his rashi — is Virgo, and his Moon's nakshatra is Uttara Phalguni (pada 2), the placement that sets his dasha sequence. His Sun sign is Libra, though Vedic (sidereal) and Western (tropical) zodiacs use different calculation methods, so his Western sun sign is often quoted as Scorpio. The full birth chart is above; every position is computed, not copied.

FAQ 03

Is Virat Kohli manglik?

This can't be honestly answered without a verified birth time, because manglik status depends on which house Mars occupies, not just its sign. What's known: his Mars sits in Pisces, a neutral placement by sign alone. Any source giving you a definite yes or no has assumed a birth time it isn't disclosing.

FAQ 04

Do Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's kundlis match?

We can't run a real guna Milan compatibility check without a confirmed, public birth chart for Anushka Sharma, and we don't publish scores built on a guess. What's on public record is a marriage since December 2017 and a daughter born in 2021 — outcomes a chart can describe in hindsight, not verdicts it can hand out in advance.
