MukeshAmbani

मुकेश अंबानी

His Sun is the strongest a planet can be. His Moon sits in the nakshatra called the root.

19 APR 1957 · ADEN, YEMEN

TL;DR

One exalted Sun. Four planets in one sign.

A planet is exalted when it sits in the single sign where it works at full power. In Mukesh Ambani's kundli the Sun — authority, self, the father — is exalted in Aries. It is the strongest placement in the chart, and it holds at every minute of his birth date.
It is not in there alone. Mercury, Venus and Ketu are in Aries too — four of the nine bodies packed into one cardinal-fire sign, the sign of starting things. The Moon, meanwhile, sits in Mula, the nakshatra whose name means the root: the one that digs a thing down to its foundation and rebuilds from there.

What this page will not do is put dates on any of it. No verified birth time for him has ever been published, so his dasha order is real and computable — and every dasha date is not. We measured exactly how badly, and we show you the number.

Born a long way from Gujarat

19 April 1957 Aden, then a British colony
  • He was born in Aden, on the southern tip of the Arabian peninsula — in what is now Yemen — because his father Dhirubhai Ambani had gone there for work as a young man.
  • The family returned to India in 1958, when he was about a year old, and Dhirubhai began the trading business that grew into Reliance.
  • That birthplace is the reason this page's chart is computed at Aden's coordinates on UTC+3, not at Mumbai on Indian Standard Time. Two and a half hours of error would move every fast-moving position on it.
🔭 The Sun — the graha traditionally read for the father — is exalted in this chart, at its maximum strength. A resonance with a childhood organised around one man's enterprise; not a cause of it.

Chemical engineer, then called home

Left Stanford in 1980, mid-MBA
  • Dhirubhai founded Reliance in the late 1950s and built it through textiles — the Vimal brand — before taking it public in 1977.
  • Mukesh took a chemical engineering degree at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai, then enrolled for an MBA at Stanford. He left it unfinished in 1980, at his father's request, to join the company.
  • He has never gone back for the degree.
🔭 Mercury in Aries — the planet of trade, calculation and negotiation, sitting in the sign of the standing start, in the same sign as that exalted Sun rather than across from it.

Jamnagar the world's largest refinery at a single site
  • At 24 he was put in charge of building the Patalganga petrochemicals plant. The strategy was backward integration — owning each step upstream of the last one.
  • It ended at crude oil. The Jamnagar complex in Gujarat, commissioned at the end of the 1990s, became the largest grassroots petroleum refinery at any single location in the world.
  • A company that had started by selling fabric now made the polyester, the fibre intermediates, and the petrochemicals those came from.
🔭 Moon in Mula, the nakshatra of the root — traditionally the placement of going to the bottom of a thing rather than working at its surface. Read it as symbolism, not as an explanation.

A group divided between two sons

18 June 2005 the family arrangement announced
  • Dhirubhai Ambani died on 6 July 2002, without leaving a will.
  • Ownership of the group was subsequently divided between his two sons. On 18 June 2005 their mother, Kokilaben Ambani, announced a family arrangement settling it.
  • Mukesh Ambani retained Reliance Industries — refining, petrochemicals, oil and gas. Anil Ambani took the telecommunications, power and financial-services businesses into a separate group.
🔭 Saturn retrograde in Scorpio — the planet of structure, delay and eventual settlement, in the sign of things that have to be gone through rather than around. We name the placement and stop there. A birth chart does not adjudicate a family's private arrangements, and this page takes no side in one.

The standing start, at national scale

100 million users by 22 February 2017
  • Reliance Jio opened to the public on 5 September 2016 with free voice calls and an introductory data offer that ran to 31 March 2017.
  • It took 16 million subscribers in the first month, passed 50 million in 83 days, and reached 100 million on 22 February 2017.
  • What followed is the part economists still write about: the price of mobile data in India fell steeply, and the rest of the sector consolidated around it — Vodafone India and Idea Cellular merged in 2018. Jio is now the largest mobile operator in India.
🔭 Four bodies in Aries — the sign Vedic astrology gives to ignition and the standing start — with the exalted Sun among them. The chart's loudest single feature, and the one that needs no birth time to read.

One thing we owe you up front: there is no published birth time for Mukesh Ambani at all — not a disputed one, not an unrated one, none. Every year printed above is a documented public event, never a dasha boundary. The dasha ladder in the graph is deliberately blank of dates, and the mini-course below shows the measurement that forced that decision.

What the record shows 📄

The three things people actually look up

Public record on the left. What the computed chart does — and doesn't — support on the right.

🏛️ The succession, and the 2005 division
What's public

Dhirubhai Ambani died on 6 July 2002 without leaving a will. Ownership of the Reliance group was divided between his two sons over the following three years, and on 18 June 2005 their mother Kokilaben Ambani announced a family arrangement settling the division.

Mukesh Ambani kept Reliance Industries — refining, petrochemicals, oil and gas. Anil Ambani took telecommunications, power and financial services into a separate group.

What we won't do with it

Assign fault. A birth chart cannot tell you who was right inside a family, and we are not going to use one to imply it — not about him, not about his brother, not about anyone else involved.

The placement worth naming, and only naming: Saturn is retrograde in Scorpio in this chart. Saturn is the graha of structure, delay and eventual settlement. That is where the observation ends.

📶 Jio, and what happened to the price of data
What's public

Jio launched commercially on 5 September 2016 with free voice calls and an introductory data offer running to 31 March 2017. It reached 100 million subscribers on 22 February 2017 — the fastest ramp any Indian operator had managed.

Mobile data tariffs across the Indian market fell sharply in the years that followed, and the sector consolidated: Vodafone India and Idea Cellular merged in 2018. Jio is today the largest mobile network operator in India.

What the chart hints

Aries is the sign Vedic astrology gives to the standing start — the cold open, the thing begun rather than inherited. He has four bodies in it, including a Sun at full exaltation.

One of those four is Ketu, classically the significator of cutting through an existing arrangement rather than negotiating with it. A pattern that rhymes — not a prediction anyone made in advance.

👑 The "raj yoga" claim you'll find everywhere else
What's out there

"Mukesh Ambani kundli rajyog" and "billionaire yoga" are among the most-searched phrases attached to his horoscope, and plenty of sites will hand you a confident list of the raj yogas in his birth chart.

Why this page won't

A raj yoga is defined by house lordships measured from the lagna — the sign rising on the eastern horizon at the exact minute of birth. No birth time for him has ever been published.

We swept his whole birth date at his real birthplace, minute by minute: the lagna passes through all twelve signs across those 24 hours. So every raj-yoga list you'll read about him rests on a birth time somebody chose and didn't show you. What survives without a lagna is the honest part — an exalted Sun, four planets in Aries, and a Moon in Mula.

Being straight with you: everything in the left-hand columns above is documented public record. Everything on the right is traditional interpretation of a birth chart, offered for entertainment and education — never as a claim about anyone's private life, motives or conduct, and never as blame.
Two standing starts

Both times, he entered last

🧵 → 🛢️  Selling cloth, then owning the crude behind it

  • Reliance began in textiles. The obvious growth path was more fabric, more brands, more shops.
  • The path actually taken went the other way — down the supply chain instead of along it. Polyester, then the fibre intermediates, then the petrochemicals, then the refinery itself.
  • It ended at Jamnagar: the largest grassroots petroleum refinery at any single location in the world, in a state the family had come from and a business the company had never been in.

🔭 The chart bit: his Moon sits in Mula — literally "the root", the nakshatra of digging to the bottom of something. Of all 27 nakshatras it is the on-the-nose one for a strategy defined by going upstream.

📱 → 📉  The last operator into a finished market

  • By 2016 Indian telecom was considered settled: a handful of incumbents, thin margins, no room for a new national entrant.
  • Jio entered anyway, in September 2016, giving voice calls away free and data away cheap — and took 100 million subscribers in under six months.
  • Within two years the market had reorganised around it, with two of the largest incumbents merging. Data got dramatically cheaper for everyone, including people who never became customers.

🔭 The chart bit: four bodies in Aries — the sign of the cold start — with the Sun exalted among them and Ketu, the great cutter-through, sitting in the same sign.

What the sky wrote

  • It is the only placement in his entire chart that isn't neutral. Nothing here is debilitated; one thing is exalted, and it is the Sun.
  • The Sun is also the graha traditionally read for the father — worth noting on a chart belonging to a man whose working life began inside his father's company at his father's request.

The nakshatra whose name means "the root"

  • His Moon sits in Mula — one of the 27 nakshatras, ruled by Ketu, and the one whose Sanskrit name translates directly as root or foundation.
  • Mula's traditional territory is investigation that goes all the way down: pulling a thing up by its base to see what it actually rests on, then rebuilding from there.
  • It is also the single most consequential placement in any kundli, because the Moon's nakshatra — and nothing else — decides which planet's dasha runs first and in what order all the others follow.
🔭 Moon in Sagittarius, Mula nakshatra. Stable across 100% of his birth date — it doesn't leave Mula until 00:49 the following morning. Which is why his dasha order is publishable and his dasha dates are not.

The comfort planet, inside the glare

  • Venus governs comfort, luxury, pleasure and ease. His sits barely a degree and a quarter from that exalted Sun — close enough to be combust, the classical term for a planet burnt up in the Sun's glare.
  • The traditional reading is not that comfort is absent, but that it is subordinate: the planet of ease is operating inside the light of the planet of duty and position, and answers to it.
  • Both sit in Ashwini, the nakshatra of the fast start — Venus at roughly 7°, the Sun at roughly 5°46'.
🔭 Venus in Aries — combust. Stable all day. Note what this chart does not contain: not one debilitated planet anywhere.

One node, touching everything that matters

  • Ketu is the south lunar node — the graha of severance, of cutting away rather than accumulating, and of expertise so deep it stops needing an audience.
  • Here is the thing our engine surfaced that we didn't expect: Ketu rules three of this chart's four headline points at once. The Moon is in Mula — Ketu's nakshatra. The Sun and Venus are in Ashwini — also Ketu's nakshatra. And Ketu itself sits in Aries with them.
  • That is a genuinely unusual concentration, and unlike a raj yoga it needs no birth time to verify. You can check it against the chart lower down the page yourself.

The kundlis people look for next

A real slice of the search traffic around this page is about two other people: his wife Nita Ambani, whom he married in 1985, and their daughter Isha Ambani. That's a natural compatibility question — Vedic astrology has a 36-point guna Milan system built for exactly that, matching two birth charts against each other.

We haven't built those pages yet, and we're not going to run a compatibility score off half a chart. Neither of their birth times is public, and — as this whole page keeps saying — the parts of matching that people actually want are the parts that need the minute. When those pages exist, this section will link straight to them.

Actually learn this

Astrology, but make it make sense

Zero background needed. Read this once and you can decode the birth chart above yourself — no astrologer required.

LESSON 01

What a birth chart even is

A kundli — or janam kundli — is a snapshot of the sky from the exact place and moment someone was born. Where each planet sat, frozen.

Vedic astrology treats that snapshot as the raw material a person was handed. Not a fate. A starting kit.

His: 19 April 1957, in Aden — then a British colony, today part of Yemen. That matters mechanically, not just as trivia: we compute at Aden's coordinates and its 1957 clock, UTC+3. Running his chart on Mumbai time would be two and a half hours wrong.
LESSON 02

The planets, and what each one does

Nine of them — the navagraha. Think of them as nine departments, each running one part of a life.

PlanetRunsWhere his is
☉ Sunego, authority, the fatherAries ↑ exalted
☾ Mooninstinct, mind, moodSagittarius · Mula
♂ Marsdrive, aggression, the bodyTaurus
☿ Mercuryspeech, cleverness, tradeAries

♀ Venuscharm, comfort, luxuryAries combust
♄ Saturnpatience, grind, delaysScorpio (retrograde)
☊ Rahuambition, obsession, expansionLibra (retrograde)
☋ Ketucutting away, detachmentAries
LESSON 03

Why "which sign" actually matters

Every planet has one sign where it works at full strength and one where it struggles. Same planet, different room, different output.

  • Exalted (strongest spot) — full power, nothing in the way.
  • Debilitated (weakest spot) — working with the handbrake on.
  • Everywhere else (neutral) — a guest. Functional, not special.
His scorecard is lopsided: exactly one planet exalted — the Sun — and zero debilitated. The other seven all sit neutral, and none of them is on its own home ground. Most charts carry at least one weak spot. This one carries none, and one very strong one.
LESSON 04

Dashas — why timing is the whole game

This is the part most people have never heard of, and it's the most useful.

Planets don't all act at once. They take turns running a life, for years at a stretch, in a fixed order that the Moon's position at birth sets. Each turn is a dasha; the full lifetime sequence is the Vimshottari dasha, and it runs 120 years.

His order, computed — and this part is real:
Ketu (7y) → Venus (20y) → Sun (6y) → Moon (10y) → Mars (7y) → Rahu (18y) → Jupiter (16y) → Saturn (19y) → Mercury (17y)

It starts at Ketu because his Moon is in Mula, and Mula is Ketu's nakshatra. That sequence held at every single birth minute we tested. What we deliberately haven't given you is a date for any of those handovers — Lesson 05 is why.
LESSON 05

Why you'll find no dasha dates on this page

Here's where most celebrity astrology sites quietly cheat, and we're going to show you the arithmetic instead.

A dasha sequence doesn't just need the Moon's nakshatra — it needs how far through that nakshatra the Moon had already travelled at birth. That leftover fraction sets how much of the first dasha was already used up before the person drew breath, and every date afterwards is stacked on top of it.

The Moon moves about 13 degrees a day. A nakshatra is only 13°20' wide. So across a single unknown day, the Moon crosses very nearly a whole nakshatra — and that leftover fraction sweeps from almost nothing to almost everything.

We measured it on his chart. We recomputed his kundli at 10-minute intervals across all 24 hours of 19 April 1957 — 144 separate charts.

His Moon stayed in Mula for 100% of them, so the dasha order above is solid.
But the end of that first Ketu dasha landed anywhere between July 1957 and February 1964 — a 6.6-year swing, on the very first boundary, before the errors even start compounding.

That is why you will not read "Jio launched during his such-and-such period" here. At a 6.6-year spread, that sentence isn't computation. It's a guess wearing computation's clothes.
LESSON 06

Nakshatras, and the one his Moon is in

Beneath the twelve zodiac signs sits a finer grid: 27 nakshatras, each a 13°20' slice of sky with its own ruling planet and its own symbolism. Your Moon's nakshatra is, in practice, the most personal single fact in a kundli.

His is Mula — ruled by Ketu, sitting in Sagittarius. The word means root. Its classical symbol is a bundle of tied roots, and its territory is investigation that refuses to stop at the surface: pulling something up by the base to find out what it was standing on.

Traditional readings of Mula lean toward research, getting to the bottom of things, and rebuilding from foundations rather than decorating what's already there. Whether you find that resonant for a career defined by going upstream is up to you — we're showing you the placement, not selling you a destiny.
LESSON 07

What we genuinely can't tell you

A chart has two halves. Which sign each planet is in needs only the date and place — so everything above is solid. And the houses, which need the exact minute, because the rising sign changes roughly every two hours.

No birth time for Mukesh Ambani has ever been published. Not a disputed one, not an unrated one. Its Rodden rating — the astrology world's own scale for how well-sourced a birth time is — is X: unknown.

We ran the sweep to see how much that costs. Across his birth date at Aden, the rising sign passes through all twelve signs. Not two candidates. Twelve.

So on this page you will never see "his tenth house of career" or "his seventh house of marriage", and never a raj-yoga list. Other sites will give you all of it. Ask them which birth minute they used, and where they got it.
LESSON 08

So — is Mukesh Ambani manglik?

It's one of the most-searched questions attached to his name, and the honest answer is unsatisfying.

Manglik status depends on which house Mars occupies — a specific short list of positions counted from the lagna. Houses need the birth time. Without one, this cannot be answered, by us or by anyone.

What we can say: his Mars sits in Taurus, a neutral placement by sign — not its own sign, not exalted, not debilitated. Whether it falls in a manglik house depends entirely on a minute nobody has confirmed. Any site handing you a confident yes or no for him has picked a birth time and isn't telling you which one.

What people ask about his kundli

FAQ 01

What is Mukesh Ambani's birth time?

There isn't one on the record. No verified birth time for Mukesh Ambani has ever been published — and unlike many celebrities, there isn't even a disputed or unrated time doing the rounds. Its Rodden rating, the standard scale for birth-data quality, is X: unknown. His birth date is solid: 19 April 1957, in Aden, then a British colony and now part of Yemen. This page publishes only what that date and place settle on their own — his zodiac signs, his nakshatra and his dasha order — and never houses, lagna, raj yogas or a manglik verdict.

FAQ 02

What is Mukesh Ambani's zodiac sign and nakshatra?

By Vedic (sidereal) reckoning his Moon sign — his rashi — is Sagittarius, and his birth nakshatra is Mula, a name that translates as "the root". His Sun sits in Aries, where it is exalted, the strongest position the Sun can hold. Note that Vedic and Western astrology use different zodiac calculations, so Western sources will usually give his sun sign as Taurus instead. His Moon stays inside Mula for the whole of his birth date, so the nakshatra is certain even though the birth time isn't — one of the few things on this chart that a missing minute can't touch.

FAQ 03

Kya Mukesh Ambani manglik hai? Is he manglik?

This can't be answered honestly without a verified birth time, and we'd rather say so than guess. Manglik status is decided by which house Mars occupies, counted from the rising sign — not by which sign Mars is in. What's computable from his birth date alone: Mars sits in Taurus, a neutral placement, neither strong nor weak. Whether that lands in one of the manglik houses depends entirely on the birth minute. We swept his whole birth date and the rising sign moves through all twelve signs across it, so there is no shortcut here. Any source giving you a firm yes or no has assumed a time it isn't showing you.

FAQ 04

Does Mukesh Ambani's kundli have a raj yoga or "billionaire yoga"?

Plenty of horoscope sites say yes and list them. We can't, and here's the specific reason: a raj yoga is defined by relationships between house lords, and houses are measured from the lagna — the sign rising at the exact minute of birth. With no published birth time, his lagna could be any of the twelve signs. What genuinely does hold, without needing a minute, is arguably more interesting anyway: the Sun exalted in Aries, four of the nine bodies crowded into that one sign, a Moon in Mula, and not one debilitated planet in the whole birth chart.
