Shah RukhKhan

शाहरुख़ ख़ान

The biggest star India has produced. His star planet is the weakest thing in his chart.

2 NOV 1965 · NEW DELHI

TL;DR

The Sun is fallen. He became the Sun anyway.

In Vedic astrology the Sun is stardom itself — status, the spotlight, being the centre of the room. In Shah Rukh Khan's chart the Sun sits in Libra, the single worst sign it can occupy.
He is, by most measures, the most famous actor alive.

What he does have is Mars and Saturn, both on home ground. Not charm planets. Not luck planets. The two planets of effort and endurance.

Nobody handed him this. That's not a nice line — it's what the chart says.
The paradox
Sun ↓
Weakest possible sign for the planet of stardom. No outsider from Delhi should have got here.
The engine
Mars ★
Home ground. Fight, drive, physical will. The 57-year-old body in Pathaan.
The engine
Saturn ★
Home ground. Grind and endurance — and it ran his life from 2006 to 2025.
The receipts
No film family
No producer parent, no launch. A TV actor from Delhi who ended up owning the industry.
The glow-up graph

King. Written off. King again.

The line is his standing in Indian cinema. The bar underneath is which planet was running his life — Vedic astrology hands a life to one planet at a time, in a fixed order, for fixed lengths.

How to read this: up means the industry belonged to him, down means the obituaries were being drafted. The bar below shows his Jupiter and Saturn stretches. Note where Saturn starts and where it ends.

  • Fauji and Circus on television, then Bombay with no connections and both parents already dead.
  • Deewana in 1992. Within two years he was playing stalkers and killers in Baazigar and Darr — parts every established hero had refused.

2018–2022 · THE SILENCE

Four years without a film, and a very bad year.

Zero flopped, and then he stopped
  • Zero in 2018 failed badly. He didn't release another film for over four years.
  • In 2021 his son was arrested in a drugs case and held for around 25 days. The agency later filed its chargesheet without naming him, finding no evidence against him.
  • Boycott campaigns ran against his films. The industry consensus was that he was finished at 57.

2023–2025 · THE RETURN

Three films in one year. All of them worked.

₹1000cr+ at 57, in twelve months
  • Pathaan in January 2023, then Jawan, then Dunki. The biggest comeback year any Indian actor has had.
  • Kolkata Knight Riders, the IPL team he co-owns, won the title in 2024 after a decade.
  • In 2025 he won the National Film Award for Best Actor — his first, at 59, for Jawan.
🔭 The closing years of Saturn, which ends October 2025. Saturn pays out at the end, not during.

A caution we'd rather give you than hide: his birth time is disputed, and the two circulating times produce different era timelines. We've used the better-sourced one and written everything as eras, not exact dates. Lesson 06 explains this properly, because for him it matters more than for most.

The messy bits

Everything you're actually here for

Thirty years at the top means thirty years of trouble. All of the below is public record, and where he was cleared we say so.

⚖️ The year they came for his son
What's public

In October 2021 his son Aryan was detained in a drugs case connected to a cruise ship raid and held for roughly 25 days before bail.

The investigating agency later filed its chargesheet without naming him, citing a lack of evidence. Officials involved in the original raid subsequently faced scrutiny of their own. Shah Rukh Khan said almost nothing publicly throughout.

What the chart hints

The middle of his Saturn stretch. Saturn's method is restriction and waiting — and it very often works on you through your family rather than directly.

It's also the stretch that ends in October 2025, which is worth holding onto.

🛂 Detained at the airport. Repeatedly.
What's public

He has been held for questioning at United States airports more than once — most publicly in 2009 and again in 2012 — each time over his name flagging on a security list.

It became a running joke he made himself, including on stage at Yale. It also became a genuine diplomatic irritation between the two countries.

What the chart hints

A debilitated Sun is the planet of official recognition running weak. The Sun is passports, authority, being formally acknowledged.

The most recognised face in the world, not recognised at a desk. That's a fair picture of the placement.

🏟️ Banned from a cricket ground he part-owned
What's public

May 2012, Wankhede Stadium. After a KKR match there was an altercation with security staff. The Mumbai Cricket Association banned him from the ground for five years.

Accounts differ sharply on what happened and who started it. The ban was eventually lifted early. He has said he was protecting children who had been pushed.

What the chart hints

Mars on home ground, in Scorpio. Mars is confrontation and physical defence of territory. Scorpio doesn't do it quietly.

The same placement people admire in the action films is the one that gets you banned from a stadium.

📉 "Boycott" and the four-year silence
What's public

After Zero flopped in 2018 he didn't release a film for over four years. Organised boycott campaigns targeted him online, and a 2015 remark of his about intolerance was resurfaced against him repeatedly.

By 2022 the settled industry view was that he had aged out and misjudged the market. Pathaan opened three months later to the biggest Hindi opening ever recorded.

What the chart hints

Late Saturn. Saturn does not do sudden collapse — it does long, quiet, public erosion, and then it pays at the end.

His Sun being weak is relevant here too: he has never been protected by status the way an insider is.

Being straight with you: Aryan Khan was never charged and the agency's own chargesheet did not name him. We include the episode because it is the defining event of that period of his life, not as any kind of allegation. We have not used astrology to imply anything about anyone's guilt, and we won't.
Certified comeback arcs

Two arcs that had no business ending well

An orphan from Delhi with no way into the industry

  • His father died when he was 15, his mother when he was 26. No film family, no producer relative, no launch vehicle.
  • He came to Bombay from television — at the time a step down, not a step up — and took the villain roles nobody established would touch, because they were the only ones offered.
  • Inside three years he was the biggest romantic lead in the country.

🔭 The chart bit: Rahu handing over to Jupiter. Rahu is the outsider who wants in; Jupiter is the part where the door actually opens.

Fifty-seven, four years silent, and then the biggest year of his life

  • 2018 to 2022: one flop, no releases, a boycott campaign, and his son in custody.
  • January 2023: Pathaan. Then Jawan. Then Dunki. Over ₹1,000 crore in twelve months and a Hindi film industry pulled out of its post-pandemic slump largely by him.
  • 2024: KKR win the IPL. 2025: his first National Film Award for Best Actor, at 59.

🔭 The chart bit: the final stretch of Saturn, which closes in October 2025. Saturn is the one planet that settles up on the way out rather than along the way.

What the sky wrote

Four planets. Four receipts.

Shah Rukh Khan on a large stage, small against the lighting rig
Sun · in Libra
weakest spot

The star with no star planet

  • The Sun runs status, ego, and being the centre of the room. Libra is the one sign where it's weakest — Libra is about balance and other people, and the Sun wants neither.
  • No film family. Both parents gone before he was 27. Nothing about his arrival was official or inherited.
  • Still detained at airports over a name on a list. The Sun is formal recognition, and his has always run short.
🔭 Sun in Libra — debilitated. Weakest possible placement for the planet of stardom, in the chart of the biggest star alive.

Mars · in Scorpio
home ground

The fight nobody credits him for

  • Mars is drive, confrontation and physical will. In Scorpio it's on home ground — intense, private, and it does not let go.
  • He took the villain roles in Baazigar and Darr that established heroes turned down, because refusing was a luxury he didn't have.
  • The Wankhede ban came from this too. The same planet does the action films and the altercations.
🔭 Mars in Scorpio — own sign. One of only two planets in his chart on home ground.

Saturn · in Aquarius
home ground

Nineteen years of the hard way

  • Saturn is endurance, delay and work that only pays at the end. In Aquarius it's on home ground — strong, but Saturn strong means heavy, not easy.
  • His Saturn stretch ran 2006 to October 2025. That covers Chak De, the slow decline, Zero, the silent years, his son's arrest — and then Pathaan, the IPL title and the National Award.
  • Saturn settles up on the way out. His did, almost to the year.
🔭 Saturn in Aquarius — own sign. The planet that actually ran his life for nineteen years.
Shah Rukh Khan speaking on stage at a TED conference
Jupiter · in Gemini
the reach

The part that made him loved rather than admired

  • Jupiter is reach, warmth and teaching. In Gemini it works through talk — wit, timing, a room won over with words.
  • His Jupiter stretch is the whole 1990s and early 2000s: DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
  • He is also, by common consent, the funniest interview in the industry. That's this placement, not the Sun.
🔭 Jupiter in Gemini. Ran his life until 2006 — the decade everyone actually pictures.

The kundli people look for next

Two clusters, every time. The first is his family — Gauri Khan, Aryan and Suhana — and sitting underneath that is really a compatibility question, since Vedic astrology has a 36-point guna Milan system built for exactly that. The second is the people he shares the screen with. Three of those birth charts are already computed here the same way his is: Deepika Padukone, whose Hindi-film debut was opposite him in Om Shanti Om and who was still opposite him in Pathaan sixteen years later; Anushka Sharma, who also debuted opposite him, in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi; and Katrina Kaif, twice — Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Zero.

What we are not doing is a Milan score for him and Gauri Khan. That needs two confirmed birth charts, and his own birth time is disputed by nearly four hours — a compatibility number stacked on top of that is arithmetic dressed up as an answer. The family pages aren't built yet either, so those three links go to the waiting list rather than to a page pretending to exist.

The kundli

The chart, raw

His janam kundli, computed from his birth date and place with the same engine behind our paid reports. Signs only, and for him that caveat is bigger than usual — Lesson 06.

PISARITAUGEM AQUCAN CAPLEO SAGSCOLIBVIR Ra own own Ke weak SHAH RUKH 2 NOV 1965 · NEW DELHI SIGNS ONLY · TIME DISPUTED
♂ ♄ home ground weakest spot South-Indian style · signs sit in fixed boxes

The two planets on home ground are Mars and Saturn — fight and endurance. The one at its weakest is the Sun, which is fame itself. Read as a starting kit rather than a verdict, that's a chart for someone who was going to have to build it themselves.

Actually learn this

Astrology, but make it make sense

Zero background needed. Read this once and you can decode the chart above yourself — no astrologer required.

LESSON 01

What a birth chart even is

It's a photo of the sky from the exact spot and second you were born. Where each planet was sitting, frozen.

Vedic astrology says that snapshot describes the raw material you were handed — not your fate, your starting kit.

His: 2 November 1965, New Delhi. Sun in Libra, Mars in Scorpio, Saturn in Aquarius. Those three carry the whole story.
LESSON 02

The planets, and what each one does

Nine of them. Think of them as nine departments, each running one part of a life.

PlanetRunsWhere his is
☉ Sunstatus, ego, the spotlightLibra ↓ weakest
☾ Moonmind, mood, instinctCapricorn
♂ Marsdrive, fight, courageScorpio ★ home
☿ Mercuryspeech, logic, witScorpio
♃ Jupitergrowth, reach, warmthGemini
♀ Venuscharm, romance, beautySagittarius
♄ Saturnpatience, grind, delaysAquarius ★ home
☊ Rahuhunger, obsessionTaurus
☋ Ketuletting go, detachmentScorpio
LESSON 03

Why "which sign" actually matters

Every planet has signs where it's comfortable and signs where it struggles. Same planet, wildly different output.

  • Own sign (★) — home ground. Comfortable, reliable, does its job.
  • Debilitated (↓) — its worst sign. Still works, just badly and against friction.
  • Everywhere else — in between, which is most planets in most charts.
His scorecard: Mars and Saturn on home ground — fight and endurance. Sun at its weakest — status and the spotlight. The two working planets are the ones that describe effort. The one that describes being given fame is the broken one.
LESSON 04

Dashas — why timing is the whole game

This is the bit most people have never heard of, and it's where the real story usually is.

Your life splits into long stretches, each one run by a single planet. Fixed order, fixed lengths, and which one you start in is decided by exactly where the Moon was at birth. The technical name is dasha.

His stretches, on the better-sourced birth time:
Rahu → Jupiter (roughly 1990 to 2006) → Saturn (roughly 2006 to October 2025) → Mercury

Jupiter is the 90s superstar decade. Saturn is everything after: the plateau, Zero, the silence, his son's arrest — and then Pathaan, the IPL title and the National Award right at the end of it.
LESSON 05

Sub-periods — the chapters inside the chapter

A nineteen-year stretch is too blunt to be useful, so each one splits again into sub-periods, each handed to a different planet. That's how astrologers get from "this decade" to "this year".

Why we're not giving you his: sub-periods need an exact birth minute. His is disputed — and in his case the dispute is bad enough that even the long stretches shift. Read the next lesson before you trust any dated prediction about him anywhere.
LESSON 06

What we genuinely can't tell you — and for him it's a lot

A chart has two halves: the signs, which barely move across a day, and the houses, which need the exact minute because the rising sign changes about every two hours.

Two different birth times circulate for Shah Rukh Khan. The astrological database with the better sourcing records 06:25. A number of Indian sites use 02:30 instead.

We checked what that gap actually costs. Every sign on this page is identical either way — his Sun stays debilitated in Libra, Mars and Saturn stay on home ground. But the two times put his Moon in different slices of sky, and that slice is what sets the dasha order. On one he starts in a Mars stretch, on the other in a Moon stretch, and everything downstream shifts by well over a year.

So: the planets on this page are solid. The era dates are given as approximate eras and come from the better-sourced time, and we've told you that rather than hiding it. There are no house claims here at all — no marriage house, no career house, no rising sign. Any site giving you those to the degree for him is not being straight with you.
LESSON 07

So — is Shah Rukh Khan manglik?

The most-asked astrology question about almost any famous Indian, and the honest answer is unsatisfying.

Manglik status depends entirely on which house Mars sits in — 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th. Houses need the birth minute. His is disputed by nearly four hours.

What we can say: his Mars is in Scorpio, its own sign, and that holds at either time. Whether it lands in a manglik house genuinely cannot be answered from what's publicly known — and he's been married to Gauri Khan since 1991, which is a longer run than most manglik predictions survive.
LESSON 08

How to actually read that chart square

The grid earlier on this page is a South-Indian chart, and it's the easiest of the three styles to learn because the signs never move.

Twelve boxes around the edge, one per zodiac sign, always in the same places. Pisces top-left, then clockwise: Aries, Taurus, Gemini down the right, and so on. Memorise the ring once and you can read any South-Indian chart for the rest of your life.

The planet symbols get written into whichever box they were in. That's the whole trick — a chart is just nine symbols dropped into twelve fixed boxes.

Try it: scroll back up to the chart and find the box marked SCO. Whatever symbols sit in it were in Scorpio at the moment of birth. You just read a kundli.
LESSON 09

Aspects — planets shouting across the chart

A planet doesn't only affect the box it sits in. It also throws its influence at other boxes from a distance. Astrologers call this an aspect, and it's why a planet can matter for an area of life it isn't sitting in.

The basic rule: every planet aspects the box directly opposite it — seven signs away. Mars, Jupiter and Saturn each get extra reach on top of that.

His: Mars sits in Scorpio, its own sign. Opposite Scorpio is Taurus — where Rahu sits. His strongest planet is aimed straight at his hunger point.

Why you should care: it's the usual answer to "but that planet isn't even in my career box, so why does it keep coming up?" It's shouting from across the room.
LESSON 10

Retrograde and combust, without the drama

Two words that get thrown around a lot and sound far worse than they are.

Retrograde means the planet appeared to move backwards across the sky. It isn't actually reversing — it's an optical effect of Earth overtaking it, the way a slower car seems to slide backwards when you pass it. Traditionally it makes a planet's themes more internal and slower to show results.

Combust means the planet sat very close to the Sun and was lost in its glare. The traditional reading is that its strength gets dimmed — not cancelled, dimmed.

His: nothing in his chart is retrograde or combust. For a life this dramatic, the chart is mechanically quite plain — which is rather the point the page has been making.

Neither is a disaster. Plenty of people with several retrograde planets have perfectly ordinary lives. Anyone selling you a remedy for a retrograde is selling you something.
LESSON 11

What this can and can't tell you

Worth being blunt, since this page has spent a while treating a chart as a serious object.

  • It can describe tendencies, and it can time long stretches — that part is arithmetic, and two astrologers with the same birth data will compute the same periods.
  • It can't tell you what someone will do with those tendencies. Two people with near-identical charts live completely different lives.
  • It definitely can't give exact dates for a death, a diagnosis, or an exam result — and anyone who does is guessing with confidence.
The honest framing: a chart is a description of the raw material and the weather. It is not a script, and nothing on this page should be read as one.

Quick answers

What people ask about his kundli

FAQ 01

What is Shah Rukh Khan's birth time?

There is no official record, and two times circulate for 2 November 1965 in New Delhi: 06:25 and 02:30 IST. The astrological databases with the better sourcing carry 06:25, which is the one this page runs on. Everything sign-level survives the gap — his Sun stays debilitated in Libra, Mars and Saturn stay on home ground, his Moon stays in Capricorn. What does not survive is his nakshatra, and since the nakshatra sets the dasha clock, the entire era timeline moves with it: on 06:25 his Saturn stretch closes in October 2025, on 02:30 it runs to March 2027. The rising sign changes completely too. That is why you will find no houses, no lagna and no manglik verdict anywhere on this page — not because they are hard, but because we would have to pick one of the two times and not tell you.

FAQ 02

What is Shah Rukh Khan's zodiac sign and nakshatra?

By Vedic reckoning his rashi — the Moon sign, which is what "zodiac sign" means inside a janam kundli — is Capricorn, and that holds at both candidate birth times. His Sun sign is Libra, the one sign where the Sun is at its weakest. Western horoscopes usually file him as a Scorpio; that is not a contradiction but the tropical zodiac against the sidereal one, two reference frames rather than two opinions. The nakshatra is the honest exception. His Moon sits almost exactly on a boundary — on the 06:25 time it has crossed it by less than a fifth of a degree — so 06:25 gives Dhanishta (pada 1) and 02:30 gives Shravana (pada 4). We would rather hand you both than quietly choose. His Sun's nakshatra is Swati either way.

FAQ 03

What does his debilitated Sun mean, and why didn't it stop him?

Debilitated only means a planet is standing in the sign it works least well from. For the Sun that sign is Libra, and his sits at roughly 16 degrees of it. The Sun's departments are status, authority, formal recognition and the position you inherit rather than earn — so read plainly, this is a birth chart that hands nobody stardom. What it does not say is that stardom is unavailable. The two planets in his chart on home ground are Mars in Scorpio and Saturn in Aquarius, drive and endurance, and those are the ones his biography actually reads like: television as the way in, the villain roles established heroes turned down, nineteen years of Saturn that only settled up at the end. The fallen Sun describes the route, not the ceiling — and it keeps showing up in the small print, from a first National Film Award at 59 to a name that goes on being flagged at immigration desks. Both candidate birth times give the same answer here.

FAQ 04

What does his navamsa (D9) chart show?

The navamsa, or D9, cuts every sign into nine parts and rebuilds the chart out of them. Classical Jyotish treats it as a strength test rather than a second horoscope: the rashi chart says what a planet is doing, the D9 says how solid it is. The parts of his that do not depend on the birth minute are these — Mars and Saturn, his two home-ground planets, both land in Pisces in the D9; Jupiter goes to Sagittarius; and the Sun leaves Libra for Aquarius, the sign his own Saturn owns. Nothing in his chart is vargottama, meaning no planet holds the same sign in both charts. What we will not give you is a D9 reading, because the navamsa ascendant is what most of those readings are really built on, it needs the exact minute, and his two candidate times produce two different ones.

Method. Every planetary position here was computed from his birth date and birthplace using the Swiss Ephemeris with the Lahiri ayanamsa — the same engine behind our paid reports, not copied from another astrology site. His birth time is disputed between 06:25 and 02:30; we use the better-sourced 06:25, publish sign-level facts that hold at either time, give life stretches as approximate eras, and make no claims that depend on houses or the rising sign.

On the 2021 case. Aryan Khan was never charged. The investigating agency's chargesheet did not name him, citing insufficient evidence. It is included here as a documented period of Shah Rukh Khan's life, not as an allegation against anyone.
